When the concept photos for this video were released I was wondering if what I saw was for real. Berryz in bedroom attire? Really? Okay so it’s not like they’re rocking Victoria’s secret but this is pretty rare stuff to see outside of Biyuden.
There are some benefits to this as we do see a bit of quiet elegance instead of tight leather and squatting. Just about every member is of legal age (where I live) except for Risako (who will be soon) so those of you getting all uptight about the girls in evening wear should really take the stick out of your ass & just enjoy the visuals. Again, they’re not in anything totally racy or NSFW. This is Hello! Project after all.
The outfits actually work well for each member and it’s nice to see Momoko look her age for once. Hey, I have nothing against her milking the “I still look 12” thing for all it’s worth but even that can get tiresome. (IMO)
Upon further inspection this look works a lot in Yurina’s favor as she looks fucking stunning in every shot. Even if you don’t like her, you have to admit that she looks GOOOOOD.
Another interesting thing about this video is that while it somewhat conforms to the standard dance shot/close up formula it’s not as played out. Unlike their last video there isn’t the grainy VHS quality video or the rather half-assed set. Instead there’s some other eye candy besides the girls to look at. It looks like UFA paid for some decent set pieces or rented someone’s fancy house for a day.
If I was the owner of that house I would sell all that furniture on E-Bay to wotas and make some money. I’m sure there are many who would pay for a chair that Miyabi or Risako sat in. (*cough*ME*cough)
The dance shots are nothing to write home about. There wasn’t enough to really get an idea of the choreography but I’m sure that oversight can be easily looked over this time.
As always I’ll skim over the song since I’ll save my full comments for the single review but I’ll say that I like it. I really dig the Housey piano chords. It also sounds somewhat more mature than Berryz typical up tempo songs.
I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this video but I’m happy with the end result. Enough talk, check out the clip below and if you like the track it will be released on August 10th.
