Review

So one day I was hanging out in the JPH!P chat room and someone mentioned an album full of Hello! Project Trance remixes.  I was not aware that such an album existed so I searched for it & I found it.  I am not a big fan of  Trance in general but can tolerate it in small doses through things like the remixes of Every Little Thing & Ayumi Hamasaki & music of that nature.  But Hello! Project? Really?  How the hell does that translate to Trance?  Does it even at all?

The answer is a resounding NO.  Like NOT AT ALL.  All I could think while I was listening to this album was “What the fuck is this?”  Seriously.  You all are probably aware that I myself am a remixer so I kind of have an idea what I’m about to rant about here.  First the good if you want to call it that.  I think these productions would be okay as stand-alone instrumentals but as remixes they stink.  I mean how can one make a classic like The Peace! sound like garbage?

Trance & H!P are a total mismatch in my opinion.  When I think about this more, I don’t think a lot of the remixes on this album qualify as Trance.  They’re more like really cheesy, out of key House.  Either way they’re not really that good when paired with the vocal tracks.   That’s not to say that all the mixes are a complete assault on the ears.  I found the Pittari Shitai X’mas & Renai Revolution 21 remixes to be passable.

Of those two Pittari Shitai X’mas is the probably the better track since it kind of resembles a song that was kind of thoughtfully put together.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS SOBER.  It’s fine if you’re drunk, but man…. This is craptacular if you’re not on something.  I can’t believe I listened to the entire thing.
