Greg has been saying mornign musume is a singing ship, since the first time i ever talked to him. So I’m not surprised by his opinion. Though I don’t think they ship is sinking at all, Morning Musume is going through a transition period right now. With Gaki up coming graduation pretty much any connection to the so call “Golden Era” will be gone and it’ll be up to the new young members to forge their own identity and leave their own stamp on the group. I must say that I atleast am looking forward to that.

don’t have to try to convince everyone else they’re wrong and you’re

THIS!! Some people, I won’t name names, just seem to exsist in the fandom to be a massive downer on everyone and insult everything that H!P does. So now it is hard to tell when a fan has a ligitmate complaint or when they are just there to hate.

It’s sad.

I’m glad Greg notices that, honestly, MM was sinking way before the advent of any AKB00 group in terms of sales. The general Japanese public’s knowledge of MM is Love Machine era, and it’s deluded to think else wise. What will turn them around? I have no idea.

The current sales figures are pretty decent for a group. It’s not like they’re spending a lot for the PV and the promotions. And concerts do bring a lot of cash.

I’m a Morning Musume fan, was a BIG Morning Musume fan, and an AKB48 fan. But seriously, I’d rather buy an AKB single, although I’m not a big fan, than that of Momusu’s or other H!P groups’ singles (I’m a big Yurina fan, btw) because they’re worth it. I don’t wanna pay for a limited edition that doesn’t get phased out for ages and with only two songs and a dance shot in it.

I have to agree with the live experience. I was falling away from H!P when I went to their live concert, and it completely reignited my love for them. Now, I’m not going to lie, I’ve been disappointed with Morning Musume since Kamei/Pandas left, and I don’t like any single member anymore besides Mitsui Aika a little, but I won’t stop all together. I keep having hope every single that that one will be the AWESOME one. And I really like H!P as a whole right now.

As for the fanbase, I agree completely. Overseas fans hardly get a fraction of their popularity. When I went to the concert, there were tons of girls there, especially down dancing with the wotas. They were all about my age, as well. And I traveled from Yokosuka, which was a good couple hours, and I can’t tell you how many people I saw going to the concert as well the closer I got. Their concerts are the good part about them.

For those who are wondering, I did not participate in this roundtable because I didn’t think I had anything constructive to say. I had been a huge H!P previously, but I stopped following them quite some time ago and any real “modern” H!P knowledge I have I’ve gotten through osmosis being around the SH staff.
