I didn’t go to AnimeNEXT, I had planned to go but bigger and better things changed my mind. (AKB48 Tokyo Dome concerts, family obligations) Given this past weekend I kind of wish I went because Manny Pacquiao was screwed out of his title and watching Berryz would have been a hell of a lot better than watching the debacle what was this past weekend’s fight.
From what I heard throughout the weekend a good time was had by all. The Berryz concert sounded like it was another great show. From looking at everyone’s tweets & Facebook posts I found it weird that everyone was waiting for Berryz related events in the forest instead of inside the actual convention center itself.
It must have been one small building if all the Berryz fans had to wait out in the shrubbery. I also cannot mention AnimeNEXT without handing congratulations to Bryan & Jen of Hello! Ranking for holding another successful Hello! Party event.
Of course to go with the good there was the bad. People complained about a woeful lack of inventory for merchandise and the one thing I want to talk about the most, some dude in an AKB shirt trolling the Hello! Project fans.
Based on the reports coming out of AnimeNEXT this guy was douching it up to the max raising the ire of everyone around him. I applaud the guy for having the cajones to show up. I’m not exactly sure what he was trying to accomplish with this act of defiance in the faces of the Hello! Project fandom.
I have a feeling it was just to provoke some “butt hurt” (as the kids like to say these days) out of H!P fans. From reading the reactions to this guy, mission accomplished.
Hasn’t this issue been beaten to death, resurrected, and beaten to death once more? Can’t all of you just let things be & enjoy whatever the hell you want without having to draw imaginary battle lines every time someone decides to be a jackass? Sure what this guy did can be considered stupid and maybe more like a kamikaze mission but really, is this something to get so worked up about?
Things like this worry me. People are taking this idol business way too seriously. Is there so little going on in the lives of some idol fans that something like a little bit of pointless trolling brings out their inner emo bitch? And what is the point of trolling if you know that you’re going to be outnumbered? At least bring some backup.
I’m not against the idea. I found it funny when Pata trolled Girls’ Generation fans with his S/Mileage poster at SMTOWN 2011, but that was more in jest than seriously trying to piss people off because of some sort of superiority complex.
Honestly, it gets a little tiring to see this bullshit going on. Idols are not the be all, end all of life. Enjoy them for the escapist entertainment that they are, get your heads in check and grow up.
