The second video for Morning Muusme’s double a-sided 47th single has been released. The title for the song isn’t as long winded, Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai is a lot easier to say in a few breaths actually.
This continues where Kono Chikyuu now Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo! left off and we get to see what is behind the mysterious door in space. Which sadly leads back to the bedroom scene from the beginning of the video. Nope, no gateway straight to Avex for Aichan. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.00
Right away you can notice a distinct difference in style. There’s plenty of stop motion animation and CG effects. In a way it’s kind of a cracked out version of 3, 2, 1 Breaking Out.
And when I say that I mean it. The video actually starts with the awesomeness that is Sayu and we find out that this entire video is the conjuring of her subconscious. Really, I’m not fucking with you.
What happens for the rest of this dream is not what I would expect from any recent Morning Musume video. FUN. Yeah, weird concept, but this is like the people who were smoking crack or weed or dropping acid for S/Mileage’s Koi ni Booing Buu were given free reign to do the same for this Morning Musume video.
The result of such extra curricular activity is hard to explain in words. The entire thing is just a visual assault that makes one wonder where the hell was all this cool stuff for past few Morning Musume songs?
I guess it took the influence of the youngins to make this happen? As much as I rag on the 9th gen for being kind of not ready for prime time and all that they are beginning to prove themselves worthy of being in the group. Look at the picture above, the “old ladies” have already been sent to the back of line.
Other things to take note of in this video is that there is a lot of Reina pairing with various members. Perhaps an experiment to see what would work best? Obviously I’m biased and would love to see Sayu as the other primary lead with Reina but we all know that isn’t realistic at all. Although stranger stuff has happened lately.
Second is that there is a hell of a lot of Sayumi in this video. More than usual for a Morning Musume a-side. Probably because she’s singing lead. Yes, LEAD. On an a-side. Sayumi fans rejoice and do an Usa-chan Peace! around a sombrero.
I really didn’t know what to think of this video. It’s really fucked up, but in a good way. When I saw the preview I was expecting flying pigs and old school Batman style “BOOMS!” and “POWS!” all over the screen. Praise Jebus none of that happened. Instead it’s just silly fun that works well within the context of the video.
Some abstract images are also present here. I guess abstract would be the correct word I think?
Overall I was impressed with this video. I can see how the stop motion animation, the wacky color scheme and images might turn some people off. (or cause epileptic seizures) Don’t let that turn you away, it’s actually worth watching outside of seeing your favorite girl(s). Which is saying a lot for a Hello! Project video.
The only thing I’m left wondering about is where is this giant panda standing next to Tsunku that we see on the covers? Someone else can go frame by frame and find it because I’m not.
Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo! / Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai will be released on September 14th.
The video for Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai is around the 05:16 mark.
