Review

This is Perfume’s 2008 concert tour recorded at the Budokan on November 6 and 7. It  features performances of their catalog up to and including the Love The World single.

Budokaaaaaaaaaan! Crowd

Notice how I didn’t put the word “live” next to performance. I believe anyone who is familiar with Perfume has realized that they don’t actually sing a lot of their songs live due to the heavy amount of vocal processing that is involved to make the songs sound like the recorded version. Although it’s entirely possible to do so they just don’t do it.

Not to say that they don’t ever sing live because they actually do it during this concert. (see Jenny wa Gokigen Naname) It’s just with their complex dance routines I doubt that live vocals for the majority of their songs would sound very pleasing to the ear.

So think of Perfume concerts as performance pieces instead. They have come a long way from their first tour and it shows. There’s a lot of eye candy (besides the group themselves) and their MC segments are engaging & entertaining. A-chan in particular is quite charming and funny.

And that’s what really counts I think. The crowd doesn’t seem to give a damn & were enjoying themselves and I enjoyed watching this as well because Perfume puts on a damn good show. My favorite performance (much like on their first concert) was Take Me Take Me. That performance was pretty hot & I gotta say that I’m envious of those chairs. =)

This was another great outing from Perfume. Compared to their first concert tour this was much more polished and I’m interested to see what they come up with when they head out on the road again.
