This is Perfume’s concert promoting their album GAME. As always, most of the set consists of songs from that album along with a good helping of their previous singles. It’s one of the more balanced set lists I’ve seen for a concert actually.
I’m not sure what venue this was filmed in. From the looks of it, it looked like it could fit maybe 3000 – 5000 people maybe? It looked pretty full, especially the floor area. Lots of fans crammed into that space.
As for the show itself? It wasn’t the most elaborate concert. There were some nice visual effects that I think were added in after filming (I’m not really sure) but that’s about it for staging. The group’s performance more than made up for the lack of fancy stuff.
Their dance routines had some interesting movements & the group looked pretty fluid doing them. Vocally they were mostly on point. For the songs with heavily processed vocals (which was almost all of them) I had difficulty figuring out if they were singing live or not. When I listened carefully there were some signs that their mics were indeed on & they were live. There were some scattered blatant bits of lip syncing but not enough to really get in a huff about.
The performances I liked were of GAME (the routine with the lightsaber-like sticks was cool)
& the one’s of Computer Driving, Jenny wa Gokigen Naname & Perfume. Mainly because the vocal effects were kept to a minimum & I could hear their pure vocals. There were a few off key moments in those songs but I found them to be fairly capable singers otherwise. My favorite performance of the show was of Take Me Take Me. There’s some nice chair dancing during that song & it’s one of the few moments in life where I wished I was a chair.
Overall this was a great show that sometimes reminded me of watching an H!P show with all the loud chanting from the (mostly) male fans on the floor level. It’s all good though as it added to the fun of the show.
