Japan 2013

The biggest event for me this year was another trip to Japan, this time to attend a few AKS handshake events and a SKE48 concert. It was an arduous journey but it was great to participate in a handshake event and meet some of the idols I’ve only seen from afar. Something I did experience shortly within my Hello! Project fandom back in 2009 with Morning Musume at Anime Expo but nothing to the extent I experienced this year.

Some of you may not agree with the whole handshake concept and how it’s executed by AKS, but for all the hassle it is worth the effort and physical pain you have to go through to meet idols and briefly chat with them. So if your favorite idol group or soloist is holding a handshake event the next time you are in Japan, I say go for it.

If you missed it all you can read the recaps from the 2013 Japan trip:
