S/mileage 10,000 Smile Picture Campaign

S/mileage is part of the next generation of H!P groups and my hero (and yours) Tsunku is challenging them to get 10,000 smile pictures from around the world. If they accomplish this feat they will be given a major label debut  in May. If they fail? Well, as the video above states, their major label future will be “uncertain”.

The deadline for their task is the 25th of March and as of this writing they have collected just under 3000 pictures. If you would like to help them out you can head to the official campaign page. Instructions on how to navigate the submission form are located at Hello! Online.

If you are a fan of S/mileage or H!P in general I would suggest submitting a picture (only one per person according to the rules) to assist them in accomplishing their goal. If successful all the pictures will be put into a collage or mosaic that is 2 x 4 meters large. So this is a good chance to at least have your mug seen by the group and be a little part of H!P history. =)

Oh & if you’re wondering if I sent a picture. Why yes I did. If I can get off my lazy ass & do it so can you. =P

    Well as a H!P fan, I did so too but I do wonder if they do fail, what will happen. In general I think 10,000 smiles was too much even if they had higher totals in general. But I do hope that they do debut without going through all the crap but I think they should do something like take pictures of people smiling or something like that to get to that amount.

    In any case, keep going!

      Perhaps this campaign is more of a test to see if the group can handle all the promotional work they’ll have to do on a major label. Either that or Tsunku just likes fucking with his artists & making them suffer. I don’t find 10,000 to be too extreme of a number but given H!P’s current popularity in Japan maybe it could be an unrealistic number to reach.

      I think they’ll be able to make it.

    hmmm, only a couple more days until the deadline… any more news on how they’re making out with this? I’m sort of worried about them :(

      As of yesterday the count was around 7000 pictures collected. 3000 more seems to be a hard number to reach. It’s possible they will either fail or just fall short of their goal.
