My Only One is the 17th single release from 9nine and was used as the ending theme for the anime Denpa Kyoushi.

The a-side is the prototypical up-tempo idol dance pop that 9nine can do in their sleep. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as the past has shown that this group does output some fun songs when they dip into this particular well.

The more interesting tracks come when you hit the b-sides. The one to take note of is Akaneiro, which has a wee bit of a Country Musume (the original version, not the rebooted 2014 Country Girls) type of feel to it. So if banjos, harmonicas, fiddles and the like combined with modern dance pop is your thing give this a go.

In the end this overall package of tracks was enjoyable. However, it did feel like a well-worn path this group has travelled before. But then again, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right?
