Nippon Chu! Chu! Chu! is the second album from babyraids JAPAN and the first release under their revised group name. It features the singles Toratora Tiger, Eiko Sunrise, Pretty Little Baby, Hashire Hashire and Senkou Believer.

Much has changed since babyraids JAPAN’s debut album was released 2 years ago. They held their first live performance at Nippon Budokan in December of 2014 and have “leveled up” to the point where their name was changed in early 2015. Lastly, they switched their look starting from their ninth single indicating a move away from the prototypical cutesy idol image.

What has not changed is their overall sound. babyraids JAPAN are still very much well within the blend of idol pop and rock instrumentals. The opening track Ride on IDOLROCK sets the tone for the entire album. For those unfamiliar with this group, that means a start in high gear with very little slowing down.

Given that the majority of the album is made up of their singles stating from 2014’s Toratora Tiger there isn’t much in the form of new material. Of the new songs the ones to look out for are Cinderella Ja Irarenai, Manatsu no Fever! and the album’s title song Nippon Chu! Chu! Chu!

It may appear that an album that has many fast paced songs one after another might be a bit of overkill but this one seems to manage to avoid that pitfall. Nippon Chu! Chu! Chu! grabs you immediately and goes by at a brisk pace once it gets its hooks in.
