C-ute’s new album is very hard to explain, it has a selection of okay songs and from it does have the single “Aitai Lonely Christmas”.
This is an improvement from the last album which was probably the worst of all the groups, however they cannot rid themselves of the step-sister image because they got all the slower songs compared to their sister group Berryz.
The only song I really like is the title track and it gives a little hope for the future, however I like when they go high pace with their recent singles.
So apparently this album has not left a very good impression on Kuro. I am of the opposite opinion and find this to lives up to the title. I was hoping, praying and even begging for C-ute to rebound from the atrocity that was Shocking 5. The majority of the songs here play to what this group excels at, and that’s light, fun and up tempo songs with minimal leads from the other members not named Airi or Maimi.
To be fair, the other 3 get their share of lines this time around (taking a page out of the Berryz play book) and they’re not awful, well with the exception of Mai whose voice I still can’t quite get used to. There are many great songs to choose from here including Midnight Temptation, Iza, Susume! Steady Go! and the previously released singles Dance de Bakoon! and Aitai Lonely Christmas.
Although the majority of the songs are of the dance variety there are a couple of mid to low tempo songs with the stand out being Ru Ru Ru Ru Ru Ru. It’s a very nice ballad that’s on the level of ones done by Berryz Koubou and Morning Musume. Really nice job done.
In my eyes, C-ute is out of the doghouse and back in competition with the rest of Hello! Project’s groups.
