Chiaki Takahashi is a voice actress and former member of the J-Pop group Aice. Konya wa Chupa Rico marks her solo debut. And what a debut it is, but not for the reasons you might think.

The a-side isn’t exactly the greatest. In fact it’s kind a throwback to cheesy club music from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Meaning all style, no substance and instantly disposable.

Well at least Takahashi has a decent voice so that offsets the lack of any lasting effects the song may have.

Event though the song is average at best, what sells it is the video. To say that her womanly charms are used to full effect is an understatement. It at least makes everything tolerable I guess.

The b-side Juicy is the complete opposite going in an R&B/Pop direction which seems to suit her voice more I believe. Since this is an AVEX production the beats sound a little dated but it doesn’t take anything away from the song itself. I think it’s the better of the two songs available on this single.

Overall this wasn’t a bad debut. There is some potential for better things to come depending the direction AVEX takes her in.
