Release Date: April 27, 2020
Key: D Minor
Chung Ha’s Stay Tonight is her third solo digital single release. It’s a chilled piece of pop-infused dance music that sits at the lower end of the BPM scale. Think of the early 2000’s Kylie Minogue, and you’ll get the idea of the type of dance music that Stay Tonight has similarities with.

Chung Ha – Stay Tonight (Instrumental)
For my remix, I first increased the tempo from 121 BPM to 125 BPM. After that, it was deciding what direction to take the track in. I listened to a couple of remixes to get an idea of how others have looked at this song. Once I had something in mind, I started laying down structure of the remix.
Rather than go the Pop/Dance route, I went with a darker and deeper sounding instrumental as the musical backdrop for the song. I did have to take some small liberties with the arrangement as the vocal rip wasn’t perfect.
I had to use two different rips and sample bits and pieces from both to get something decent to work with. Most of the song is intact except for the end, that’s where I had to cut out the inadequate sounding portions of the vocal and improvise.
Anyway, the result is pretty much what I intended it to be. A big room-ish type of production that is the complete opposite of the pop sound of the original.
