Gina Choi is a Canadian born singer better known as G.NA. She is signed to JYP Entertainment’s sub-label Cube and Draw G’s First Breath is her first mini-album.
The sound of this album fits firmly within contemporary R&B. A lot of it is similar to what you would hear from North American R&B minus the Hip-Hop influence. G.NA definitely has the vocals to fit the genre. Her voice is strong and clear and doesn’t get lost in the productions like many other similar singers.
With the exception of the catchy Super Solo this album is full of mid-tempo songs and ballads which sound like they are meant to show off G.NA’s vocal talent. You would think that something like that would be kind of boring but it works to great effect.
Overall this left a very good impression. The only thing I ask for in her future releases are a few more up tempo songs. Otherwise I look forward to what else she has to offer.
