Uh-Oh is (G)I-DLE’s fourth Korean digital single. It is a throwback to the 90s style of Hip-Hop that many of a certain age (myself included) look back upon fondly. Growing up on this type of music, I can appreciate the simplicity of such a sparse production.

(G)I-DLE – UH-OH (Instrumental)
That is the thought I kept in mind while creating this particular remix. The type of Hip-Hop I listened to during my formative years was the West Coast flavour. So I tried to bring a bit of that kind of attitude while constructing my interpretation of the track. I deliberately selected sounds that would give a more “menacing” (for the lack of a better term) type of feel.
I did my best to follow the template of “less is more,” which opened up some challenges. This song is not overly complex. It’s many of the same musical elements repeated throughout with a small change-up for Soyeon’s rap verse. Trying to put my spin on it while staying within the constraints I set for myself was not as easy as I had imagined it.
Secondly, the vocal rip I found is serviceable. It’s not great, but it’s not horrible either. It was enough to at least work with rather than chop up to get around its limitations. Still, some of the instrumental bleed from the original is noticeable but not to the point of being a significant distraction.
The result of tinkering around with the beat was a version of the song that brings a different kind of vibe to Uh-Oh.
