The longest week of my year has ended (the week before my vacation starts) and the time is near for Selective Hearing and New School Kaidan to combine forces to cause a ruckus in Japan. Well okay, we’re not going to end up going on a bender and forgetting most of the trip like we’re in Las Vegas, but fun will be had.
My output on Selective Hearing has dipped significantly due to preparations for this trip (I’ve still been doing background work on the site in the meantime), but you will see it ramp up during the next 3 weeks as I will be live blogging from the time I leave for the airport all the way until I come back home.
I’m not sure how this will work out to be honest. Usually I end up writing recaps at the end of each day when I’m out and about in the world. With the live blog I’m not sure that’s absolutely necessary but we’ll see as this trip goes along.
I will however be recording the shenanigans of the trip when I am allowed to. Obviously I can’t whip out a video camera at every place we’re going to be visiting, nor do some of the folks we’ll be seeing want to be on camera; but I’ll do my best do document everything. As I stated previously in these pre-trip articles it has been requested that I do something a lot longer than last year’s video.
If there’s one lesson to be learned from Japan 2012 it is this:
I promise this year’s documentary will be in full HD. I won’t be able to put it up on YouTube or anything due to what I plan to do with background music but oh well. It may take me a couple of weeks to get all the footage in depending on how many hours I record, but it’ll be worth the wait I think.
If there’s anything you want me to specifically want to get some video footage hit up the comments and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request.
I mentioned this at the 30 day mark but I am rather nervous about this trip simply because I am ill prepared. I didn’t even exchange money until a couple of days ago. My budget is significantly lower than last year due to a payroll screw up at work that (hopefully) will be rectified the day after I arrive in Japan.
If not I’m going to quite pissed off & will have to readjust my spending or use my credit card. Both things I don’ t want to do but will be forced to should the issue persist with paycheck.
Since the primary purpose of this entire thing is to attend an AKB48 handshake event I am also unsure of how I am going to approach this thing. I mentioned my trepidations in the last pre-trip article and those still remain even after I received advice from a handshake event veteran.
I’m thinking of building a small dossier on the girls who I will be meeting so I have something I can work off of when I finally get to the handshake. Out of the numerous members I am meeting I have probably 3 that I can confidently say something to. The rest are a crap shoot where I’ll have to improvise.
10 seconds is going to be an eternity.
Anyway, I’m just about done packing my stuff and checking off my pre-trip list. There’s not much left to do but wait I suppose.
