Morning Musume’s 47th single is a double a-side with extremely long winded titles but fortunately not long winded videos. The first out of the gate is Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo!
It starts out with the members in various states of beauty sleep.
Right away we know this video is already unrealistic since no one looks that made up when they’re just waking up. Well actually I can believe Sayu looks that good when she wakes up. Like she would have like little birds flying to her shoulders while she moans “Ohayou!” or something like that.
Unfortunately the flagship group does not follow the lead of Berryz Koubou and are in more conservative bed wear. Not really a surprise considering the average age of the group has dipped back into grade school levels. I was hoping to at least see Sayu in some sort of intimate apparel. Oh the disappointment starts already.
Anyway, once they all wake up and drag their asses to a mysterious door they end up in some sort of bizarre disco land in space dressed in attire similar to that the classic Morning Musume video The Peace! Okay, it makes no sense but whatever. At least there’s some sort of concerted effort made to make this video somewhat exciting.
Right away we get a glimpse of the future after Takahashi leaves. Get used to the image above because that’s pretty much how the vocal distribution is going to break down when she’s gone.
No video would be complete without mugging for the camera. All I can say is look at how HOT Sayu is. My prediction is that Fukumura will end up just as hot or even hotter when she matures. Which is always a good thing for those who enjoy the eye candy aspect of Morning Musume.
So once we get past the point of the mysterious door all we get is an extended dance shot with some SNSD-like line formations. The choreography is rather questionable with many disco type moves mixed with a Soul Train line, random arm flapping, peace signs and something that may or may not be a b-boy pose.
But the more you watch the more you realize that the choreography is not all that bad. Not the best Morning Musume has done, but passable. Anything that is not a dance shot or close-up is wandering in space around many sparkly things.
Some may still complain that this is a cheap H!P CG extravaganza. I dunno, this looks a lot better than cacti, giant kana and Aika dresssed as an old dude (Which people loved for some reason) and a definite step up from what Only You started.
This may come as a surprise to regular readers but I actually like this video. Sure it’s not the best video ever (like some rather over positive sites and fans like to claim for every Morning Musume video) but it was entertaining enough for me to watch it on auto loop for over an hour.
Step into the light Ai-chan. Step into the light.
Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa o Honki de Negatterun da yo! / Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai will be released September 14th.
