On Matsuno Rina and Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku

It’s always a sad thing to see someone pass away, regardless of who they were. That being said, the passing of an especially young person like Matsuno Rina, and so suddenly – having just been at a concert the night before – is both particularly shocking and hard to watch.

Given everything, I think it would be of paramount importance to celebrate the things that she has done, as opposed to could have done.

I’ve been a particularly keen fan of Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku and their “side unit” 5572320. Had I published my lists for the top songs, albums and acts over the past two or three years, they would have very easily taken top place for all three by a very comfortable margin, which I can only say of one other act I follow (FOLKS, founded by one of the former members of Galileo Galilei).

Over the next few days I’ll be revisiting some of their albums and lives that I found particularly noteworthy. Rinanan, this is for you.
