Scandal’s third album comes with a new image and a slightly heavier pop sound. From the start one can hear that this isn’t the same hard rocking group present on Best Scandal and Temptation Box. Is this detour into a new direction a detriment?

Not really. If you have followed Scandal from their indie works all the way to this point you could see this coming and it really shouldn’t be a surprise. Some will cry foul and will probably be turned off by songs like Glamorous You, Sparkling and Very Special. Those people need to go back through their catalog and pay attention instead of skipping through the songs.

But if you are one who is willing to accept some change and evolution then Baby Action will definitely satisfy your Scandal hunger. There are of course the singles Scandal Nanka Buttobase, Pride, Haruka and Love Survive. Songs that many probably have heard many times over already.

Other album cuts (besides the ones mentioned above) worth noting are Burn (used in the Japanese Horror Movie Rabbit Horror 3D), Apple Tachi no Dengon and the rather funky Tokyo Skyscraper.

Taken as whole this isn’t as much of a deviation from what they have been doing so far. As I mentioned before, Scandal Baby probably won’t have the mass appeal of their previous albums but it’s satisfactory enough to please most.
