Jeong Hyo Bean – Starlight (Run On Soundtrack)

My favourite KDrama of the year so far has an excellent soundtrack. Starlight stands out as my favourite with its mellow and sultry sound, especially when it involves scenes between Kang Tae Oh and Choi Soo Young, of SNSD fame. Their scenes rival the main characters and are bolstered even more when Starlight plays.

SUNMI – TAIL

More SUNMI? Yes, please! As pporappippam had more of a chill city pop feel for me, TAIL goes back to more of a hard-hitting sexy vibe of a song that is very much SUNMI.

YUKIKA – Love month

More YUKIKA? Yes, please! Filling in the gap of city pop for me was Lovemonth, a slower jam that was a great break from everything else that felt high-paced. Hope to hear more from her, hopefully, later in the year.

Little V. – Receive You (Yakuza)

I love Little V. and his metal covers of popular songs. This time he covers the iconic theme from the Yakuza series and knocks it out of the park. I’ve been on a Yakuza marathon lately and hearing the song in its different versions always feels like you know you are in for a rollercoaster ride. Just remember, Kiryu never kills anyone… he just severely beats the crap out of them.

Along with I Burn and Epik High Is Here 上, Pt. 1, these have been in my rotation for the first three months.

Awesome City Club Grower

You can never go wrong with Awesome City Club. Grower flexes into many different genres, but each song still has a very Awesome City Club twist and feel. This shows how talented the group is, and I’m glad they can show off more in this album. An easy chill album that I can always have on no matter what.

CHUNG HA QUERENCIA

CHUNG HA fans have been fed well with an hour of music with Querencia. I was impressed with the English Dream of You and all Spanish Demente the most. Lots of range from CHUNG HA, more than I thought there would have been.

I know the soundtrack was released in 2020, but “Final Fantasy VII Remake Soundtrack” became available to stream in 2021. The music was a massive influence for me making FFVII Remake my Game of the Year last year. With the free upgrade for PS5 and the Intergrade story with Yuffie coming this summer, I cannot wait to replay this game again in all its glory and get lost in the world of Midgar.
