The video for S/Mileage’s is the first without Maeda Yuuka and while her presence is missed the rest of the members manage to pick up the slack in her absence. The first thing that you notice when watching this are the outfits. Don’t they look kind of familiar? Yes, the wardrobe department recycled the Morning Musume outfits from Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game. Isn’t that nice? Cost savings measures.
I totally expect to see the chicken suits recycled for S/Mileage in the future now. Perhaps I’ll finally get my Hello! Project Angry Birds with this group.
Familiar outfits aside, this video appears to be a bit more challenging for the post-Yuuka S/Mileage. They get some much harder choreography that is quite similar to dances that you would see C-ute doing. At least there seems to be some advancement in that department for the group. Considering that they have more members there are opportunities to work in some complex formations in their routines.
Otherwise we get the same goofy S/Mileage that we’ve been seeing for their past few singles. This group sure loves to mug for the camera and there’s plenty of it present here. The one member who I didn’t recognize at first was Meimi. It wasn’t until I saw her fangs that I was able to find out the one in the green dress was her.
Along with the mugging for the camera we also get a bit of a fly on the wall kind of action. I’m not exactly sure what the deal with that was but at least it was something different from the normal H!P video fare. Well up to a point, & then they go back to making goofy faces.
As for the song. Well it’s better than Please! Miniskirt Postwoman. At least you’re not left hanging at the end wondering if it’s over. A full review will come after its February 1st release date.
