Comedy trio The Lonely Island returned in May with the follow up to Incredibad. This album features more collaborations with many popular artists such as Akon, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake along with an unexpected pairing with Michael Bolton. I mean who would actually expect Michael Bolton to sing a hook on a Hip-Hop song?

Of course none of the songs are considered to be anything that would be burning up the charts competing for #1 with the GaGa’s, Bieber’s and Taylor Swift’s of the world but if you you don’t care there are some great songs on this album.

The album starts off with an intro that probably has one of the best lines I’ve heard in a Hip-Hop song, “This that Garfield sex music!” It sets the tone with hilarious takes on the topics that current mainstream Hip-Hop takes way too seriously sometimes.

There are the thanks to the ladies type song in I Just Had Sex and club bangers like Jack Sparrow and Turtleneck & Chain. They don’t forget to include the holidays and there is a Mother’s Days song in Motherlover. Although I doubt many people will be playing that for their mom on that occasion. You’d have to some real gumption to pull that off & not have your mom slap the shit out of you.

My personal favorites are tracks that have some sort of narrative like Rocky, Threw It On The Ground and After Party. There is also Japan, which is totally offensive to those who are Caucasian and over sensitive about their Japan love but I found it hilarious.

Turtleneck & Chain may not be for everyone. I guess it depends if you like the SNL Digital shorts that feature their songs. It actually is worth listening to as there are some top notch beats and the group actually are decent MC’s.
