Tsubaki Factory are a Hello! Project group consisting of Hello! Pro Kenshuusei trainees including Ogata Risa, Yamagishi Riko, Niinuma Kisora, Tanimoto Ami, Kishomoto Yumeno and Asakura Kiki. Tsubaki Factory SOUND + VISION Vol 1 is their first mini-album first sold at a SATOYAMA event on March 19th and later released on May 18th.
From the opening notes of this album all the way to the last you can feel the Berryz-ness emanating from this group. I’m unsure if the heavy handedness was intentional given that former Berryz Koubou member and captain Shimizu Saki had a large part in the formation of this group, but one cannot help get that sense when listening to Tsubaki Factory.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing as it does instill some feeling of familiarity for people who may be new to this H!P unit.
Given that this is a short EP it’s a fairly quick listen and it shouldn’t take too much of your time to go through it. Just don’t expect too much in regards to anything that breaks the current mold of H!P sounds. If you’re fine with the current Hello! Project take on dance/electro pop or liked the later years of Berryz Koubou then this album is for you.
