“Marcy” is a Japanese rock band gaining popularity on social media, especially among Gen Z. Their hit song “Love Song” has been streamed over 100 million times, and they immediately sold out tickets for their first concert at Nippon Budokan on April 12. Continuing their momentum, they just released their new song, “Make A Wish”.”
“Make A Wish” is the ending theme for a new Japanese anime series “Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You,” which is based on the popular comic by Haruka Mitsui, currently serialized in the monthly magazine “Nakayoshi” published by Kodansha. Written with “I want to be by your side no matter what” wish in mind, this love ballad is a new frontier for Marcy.
Sakai Mai directed the music video featuring two up-and-coming young actors, Hana Kondo and ERIYA. The bittersweet school love story, where “Even if we are apart for a while, our feelings never change,” is depicted in a fantastical worldview. Set at a bus stop, it is a dramatic film that depicts the changing seasons, from a farewell at a snowy graduation ceremony to a reunion under the flurry of cherry blossoms. Like the story scenes, Marcy’s band performance scenes were also filmed amid falling cherry blossoms, so be sure to check out this sad yet dynamic footage of the music video.

Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You Story Synopsis
July 1, 2020. Second-year high school student Mizuho is having the worst possible 17th birthday. She won’t have any chance to get closer to the senior she admires, and her parents have completely forgotten about her birthday. On top of that, an unknown infectious disease outbreak has cancelled all club competitions and school trips, so she thinks, “I won’t have a sparkling youth.” Still, her childhood friend Kizuki suddenly declares he’s a potential boyfriend.
This is a school love story about the love affairs between the protagonist, Nishino Mizuho, and the four childhood friends whom she grew up with like a family.
