STAYC STAR TO A YOUNG CULTURE PROMO 01

STAYC is a fresh, new girl group in K-Pop making their debut with So Bad and this single EP Star to A Young Culture.

The group has six members:

  • Sumin (Leader, Vocalist, Rapper)
  • Sieun (Main Vocalist)
  • Isa (Lead Vocalist)
  • Seeun (Vocalist)
  • Yoon (Lead Vocalist)
  • J (Vocalist, Rapper, Maknae)

Some may recognize this group from a 1TheK video highlighting each of the current big K-Pop agencies’ different music stylings. If you are familiar with this video, then you got a small taste of what these ladies can do.

When it comes to their original material, they have come out strong with So Bad. The song leaves a memorable first impression with its high tempo dance-pop with some light Drum & Bass/Breaks influences.

The music video for So Bad shows that STAYC appears to be doing the girl crush thing, which makes sense given the song’s overall mood. The b-side Like This is a mid-tempo Urban pop song that shows off the softer side of STAYC. It isn’t as immediately catchy as So Bad, but it holds its own after a few spins.

Star to a Young Culture as a whole is a good start for STAYC. Based on the material on this single EP, there are many different musical directions the group could head in for future releases. If given the right songs, they could be an exciting group to follow.
