Review

Ailee is a Korean-American singer and actress signed to YMC Entertainment. She has been dubbed the “Korean Beyonce” due to her high level of charisma and vocal skills.

With 3 EPs under her name and several awards under her belt, she released her first full-length album at the end of September 2015. The lead single from this album was Mind Your Own Business.

The album starts strong with that song right off the bat. Nothing wrong with some familiarity to get people warmed up, right? That is a somewhat deceptive start, as the following songs don’t go along the same musical path.

Many of them tend to fall within the mid-tempo or ballad territory. That might turn a few people away for fear of being lulled into boredom. Those who stick around will find some real gems. The second single, Insane, Symphony, Letting Go and Love Recipe (not a cover of the Gummy song of the same name )are tracks worth checking out immediately.

What you really should do is listen to the entire thing from beginning to end. Vivid is a very good effort (for a first full-length), and it will probably appeal to those who want a more mature level of R&B/Pop. Those looking to kick it in the club should steer clear of this album.
