fromis_9’s Supersonic is a high-energy summer jam reminiscent of American freestyle music or Miami bass. It reminds us how good this group is when allowed to release music.
I knew I wanted to try this track as soon as I heard it. However, I didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, so I avoided producing it in the same style as the original and slowed the song’s tempo from 140 bpm to 130 bpm to keep it within a comfortable working speed. A 10 bpm reduction may not sound like much, but it does make a difference in generating a mood and ideas for a song.
My remix has less of the original’s frenetic energy and more of a subdued feeling overall. Like the original, I played to the vocal strengths of fromis_9, constructing an instrumental that complements the vocals and is still danceable but also noticeably different from the original version.
