Journey to Tokyo through music with AmPm’s New single’ Tokyo On My Mind feat. Nathan Hartono’
Since their breakthrough global debut in 2017 with the single ‘Best Part of Us,’ Japanese masked production duo AmPm has found fans worldwide. Now, five years from their debut, AmPm are preparing to release their first-ever full-length album, themed on the concept of “journeys.” They have released an advance cut from the album, ‘Tokyo On My Mind feat. Nathan Hartono’.
The new track is a collaboration with Nathan Hartono, a singer and actor from Singapore who is famous all across Asia. Nathan sings evocative lyrics with the theme “a journey through early morning Tokyo” over a track featuring AmPm’s signature dance music sound and chill elements, resulting in a danceable mid-tempo tune.
The title ‘Tokyo On My Mind’ refers to the feeling of longing to travel at a time when moving between borders is restricted for so many of us and the desire to return to the enchanting capital of Japan.

When AmPm told me to write a song about the city of Tokyo, I got very excited by the possibilities. Japan holds a special place in my heart; I’ve gone on several trips with family and friends. As well as for work. And every time, what I experienced was magical in its way.
The city of Tokyo fills my heart and soul with wonder every time I go. The phrase in the song, “I don’t know what I don’t know.” is precisely how I feel when I’m there. Although everything I see and experience in Tokyo is beautifully strange and mysterious, I’m left feeling like there is so much possibility in the world, so many things that I do not know.
Another side to the song describes how much I miss Tokyo. I yearn to walk the streets again. Once again, throw me into a world of discovery. But that isn’t possible because of how the word is now. So until then, I’ll patiently wait, with Tokyo on my mind.

As we mark the fifth anniversary of our debut, we are preparing an album themed on the concept of ‘journeys,’ which is a significant part of our roots.
We’re happy to release the first song from the album with Nathan. The sound expresses the uplifting feeling of embarking on a journey to a new destination and the fresh feeling you experience when arriving somewhere new – and Nathan’s warm and gentle singing voice amplifies the song’s meaning even further.
This is also our first release of the year to include vocals. In addition, Nathan’s impressions of Tokyo are reflected in the lyrics, so please pay close attention to that.

AmPm is a masked production duo from Japan who made a significant global impact with their March 2017 debut track, ‘Best Part of Us feat. Michael Kaneko’. The same year, they were the only Japanese artist to perform at Spotify On Stage, a festival in Indonesia hosted by Spotify.
In 2018, they dominated stages worldwide, from ULTRA Miami, ULTRA Korea and ULTRA Japan to a headline concert in New York.
