Pop! is the lead single from Nayeon’s first EP IM NAYEON. The song is cute and peppy. These terms haven’t been associated with any TWICE member since they started making more mature-sounding music many albums ago. So think of Pop! as a throwback to a different time.
I replicated the original drum track when constructing my remix; how it sounds faster than the listed tempo is very deceptive, and it was a good lesson to learn. But I scrapped using the same style of drum patterns to slow the song down and bring a different type of flavour to Pop!
I intended to have something reggae-ish going on, but I don’t think it went as planned, and there’s more of that feeling during the chorus only. However, the overall goal of taking Pop! in a different direction was accomplished, so I can’t complain too much.
