Password is the lead single from tripleS Hatch!’s first EP, SecretHimitsuBimil. The original version leans into funky pop with a light, playful energy that feels instantly approachable. In that sense, it wouldn’t feel out of place alongside releases from a female Japanese idol group on labels like avex or LDH. It relies heavily on vocal charm—the trademark tripleS “la la” refrains are front and center—and maintains a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere throughout.
For my remix, I wanted something with a little more bite. A straight pop or dance remix felt too close to the original’s vibe, so instead of amplifying what was already there, I chose to shift the song’s rhythmic foundation. After some thought, I landed on a combination of UK 2-step rhythm and New Jack Swing groove. Rather than altering the song’s harmony or melody, the focus was on reframing it as a more groove-driven, rhythm-forward interpretation, drawing inspiration from the early ’90s era of R&B and pop.
The final result is a version of Password that keeps the original’s clean, minimal arrangement intact but places it in a more restrained late-night soundscape.
