Skate is the second release from the duo of Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak, a.k.a. Silk Sonic. The song is a throwback to the lush 70’s disco and funk tracks whose lyrics would sound like lousy pick-up lines coming from anyone but the two men who are singing on the track. Nevertheless, it’s one of the more memorable songs from the summer of 2021.
For my remix, I didn’t try to re-invent the wheel or anything. Instead, I took inspiration from what I liked from the original composition and tried to add those parts into a more modern dance/pop music setting.
The final result is something I believe stays true to the original’s vibe while adding a new twist.
