RUDE! is the third digital single from Hearts2Hearts. The original version is another House track, this time dialling back the intensity of their previous single FOCUS and leaning harder into bratty or tomboyish pop territory, complete with an attitude-laden English-language spoken-word bridge. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I thought enough of it to give it remix treatment.
The problem I ran into with this song was that SM had commissioned official remixes, and both were in the general musical lanes I would compose in, which made it a bit more challenging to avoid repeating what had already been done.
But I powered through that wall and crafted an instrumental that aligned with the original and the remixes, while still allowing me to add my touch to the song. As is becoming of my signature, I pulled the song back into a laid-back groove rather than pushing it into a peak-time floor filler.
