About Yaeji

Yaeji is a NYC-via-Seoul artist, producer, vocalist, and DJ whose introspective, dance-floor-ready tracks have made her a global icon occupying a space all her own. After breaking out with her 2017 debut EPs that featured singles “Raingurl” and “Drink I’m Sippin On,” the multifaceted artist featured on Charli XCX’s album Charli and Sampha’s latest album Lahai has gone on to produce remixes for Dua Lipa and Robyn, collaborate with the beloved Seoul-based polymath OHHYUK, sell out three headlining worldwide tours, and launch her bespoke lifestyle webstore JI-MART.

Born in Flushing, Queens, in 1993, she has roots in Seoul, Tokyo, Atlanta, and New York City, all serving as the backdrop for her singular, hybrid sound that synthesizes influences of Korean indie rock and electronica, late ‘90s and early 2000s hip hop and R&B, and leftfield bass and techno.

With her critically-acclaimed 2020 mixtape WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던, she sharpened her vision as a musician who is creatively unbounded by language and geography, leading to partnerships with PAC-MAN, Samsung, Microsoft, and Heaven by Marc Jacobs. Named by Pitchfork as one of the “25 Artists Shaping the Future of Music”, she’s also graced the cover of Crack, The FADER, MixMag, and Secret Magazine, among others, and has been featured in programming at The Shed, V&A Museum, Serpentine Gallery, and MoMA PS1.

Her 2023 debut album, With A Hammer, cemented her status as a “genuinely original voice” (Guardian) in global music. The album sees Yaeji excavating her inner world with full force, resulting in her most thrilling and personal work yet, leading to the Guardian, Pitchfork, New York Magazine, i-D, NME, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Variety, and more, including her debut album on their “Best albums of 2023” lists.

In 2024, Yaeji continued her creative evolution with several notable projects. She traveled to Japan to present at the CrunchyRoll Awards and returned to her studio to work on new music which resulted in collaborations – “Pink Ponies” with Teddy Geiger for the Transa compilation, “Believe In Ya” with T-Pain and Girl Talk, an original track for Netflix’s Jentry Chau vs the Underworld soundtrack – and her kinetic summer club track “booboo.”

Yaeji premiered “booboo” at her jubilant return to Boiler Room this summer; the song went on to make “Best of” year-end lists for Pitchfork, The Guardian, New York Magazine, Spotify, and Billboard.

2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year for Yaeji. From her stand-alone single “Pondeggi” (with a video by Andrew Thomas Huang) to features on BAMBII’s Infinity Club II and Girl Talk & T-Pain’s “Believe in Ya,” Yaeji continues to refine her signature blend of introspective lyrics and dynamic production.

This month, she drops a remix for ATEEZ and has more collaborations on the way. She’s also announced a small but mighty run of DJ sets in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, plus festival stops at Capitol Hill Block Party, Crunchyroll FanFest, Dekmantel, OFF Festival, and her first-ever tour across Asia.
