LE SSERAFIM – FEARLESS (Selective Hearing Remix)

Release Date: May 2, 2022
Key: A Minor
BPM: 104

FEARLESS is the debut single from HYBE/Source Music’s LE SSERAFIM. A six-member (at the time, they have since gone down to five members) girl group that made their debut in May. The song has a funky mid-tempo groove that oozes the “I’m a bad bitch” attitude and a girl crush image.

Since the original version is pretty badass on its own, I didn’t want to mess up a good thing. However, it was challenging to think of what could be done with this song without killing its vibe, and it took some time to figure out how I could put my spin on it.

As usual, I listened to the original many times until inspiration hit. Then it was off to the races by hitting up my trusty Maschine MK3 and laying down a drum pattern. Once I had the drums down, it was simply a matter of laying down the chords and messing around until I found the right sounds for everything else.

I kept my remix at the original BPM and focused more on retaining the song’s core. The final result is a little more subdued than the original, but it accomplishes what I set out to do: keep the whole attitude intact.
