Obliviate is the title track from Lovelyz’s seventh mini-album, Unforgettable. This dance-pop track is a testament to Lovelyz’s musical evolution, as it deviates from their previous innocent concept and showcases a more mature and dynamic side of the group.
My remix of Obliviate has a darker mood than the original and matches the supernatural vibe of its music video a little more. It isn’t the flowery type of song that Lovelyz is known for.
While refining this track, I encountered a series of challenges. Some plugins from services I no longer subscribe to were missing, requiring me to find suitable replacement sounds seamlessly integrated into the instrumental.
Dropping in the new vocal stem and mixing the entire song also proved difficult since many parts stood out too much or were not heard enough.
I also had to rewrite the song’s ending since there was a key change I didn’t notice back then, and the flow from the bridge to the ending chorus in the original version of my composition could have been smoother-flowing.
There were many other limitations in updating this track that are too numerous to list out, and I worked around them as much as possible since I didn’t feel like re-doing the entire thing from scratch. While the final track isn’t perfect, it’s at least more presentable.
