Selective Hearing’s Monthly Recap January 2026

Monthly Recap Jan 2026 Title Card

Introduction

Firstly, Happy New Year!

January brings two things: a fresh start and optimism for the year ahead, and very little in the way of new releases, events, and so forth, since business is still recovering from the back-to-work hangover. So this recap will be very short since there isn’t much to discuss.

Content

2026 is the 20th anniversary of Selective Hearing. Yes, we have been around for as long as some fourth and fifth-generation K-pop idols have been alive. 20 years for a site of this nature is quite a milestone. To celebrate the fact that we have come this far, I wrote a bunch of special editorials on various topics related to the site.

Events

I didn’t attend any shows in January; it’s too soon after the holiday season to be going hard at concerts and being a merch whore. I would have liked to see TWICE in Vancouver, but I am paying down/saving up for events later in 2026.

One of those events is Bruno Mars’ The Romantic tour in Vancouver at BC Place. I managed to secure a ticket for the final concert on October 17, somewhere in the 300 section. It was the most affordable available for an “in the building” seat out of the scraps that I saw when the 11,000 people ahead of me got theirs.

Of course, if a tripleS event happens around the same time, I’ll prioritize that and sell my Bruno Mars ticket. But hopefully that won’t be the case this year.

Music

Remixes

I haven’t done any remixes yet. I’m sorting through my ever-growing backlog of potential songs to see if any are worth investing my time in.

Conclusion

January is traditionally very slow, so I don’t have much to really say about the month that has passed. It feels like it’s gone by faster than expected. But otherwise, I expect as the year starts to ramp up, there will be a lot more to talk about.
