Why So Lonely is the fourth Korean single released by Wonder Girls, it’s difficult to believe that this is only their fourth single, given how long this group has been around. Arriving 6 years after 2 Different Tears, Why So Lonely is a mid-tempo dancehall-flavoured song.
On the surface, it may be stylistically similar to 2NE1’s Falling In Love, but otherwise, it feels like Why So Lonely has a more seductive swagger and is chill enough to fit within the realm of a summer anthem. What sets this song apart from the Wonder Girls’ previous efforts since their reformation is that it doesn’t fall into the whole retro-pop concept.
However, the b-sides do sound like they continue the old-school pop concept they built their last comeback around. Both songs are great showcases of the Wonder Girls at their best. But if you’re looking for something closer to their current presentation, To The Beautiful You is probably the song you should gravitate to after the a-side.
