SummerSlam Night 2
Steel Cage Match for the United States Championship
Solo Sikoa (c) vs Jacob Fatu
Allen: This may be one of the times where the steel cage doesn’t prove effective at keeping people out. I see nothing but interference from the MFTs. I love this version of Solo Sikoa, he’s so funny with his mannerisms and facial reactions. Jacob Fatu just seems outnumbered in all cases and I am not sure they start planting the seeds for Wargames this soon. Winner is Solo Sikoa.
Greg: New Jack City Solo Sikoa is funny outside the ring, but I don’t find him that exciting in the ring. A steel cage will at least allow for an elevated level of violence from both men and possibly some ridiculous levels of attempted interference. I would like Jacob to win but Solo is probably retaining to keep this chase going for a little longer.
BigFreaky: I feel like Greg makes a good point. Jacob is still gonna have to keep running. Obviously there will be interference. Solo retain.
Justin: I am absolutely impressed with Solo Sikoa. When he lost to Roman, I thought he had nowhere to go, and WWE had nowhere FOR him to go. But the guy began injecting his own personality and humor into his performance and now everyone appreciates him so much more. Keep the momentum with Solo. Keep Fatu on the chase and build his stock even more. Solo wins this battle. Jacob will ultimately win the WAR.
No Disqualification, No Countout Last Chance Match for WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship
If Lynch wins, Valkyria can no longer challenge for the title as long as Lynch is the champion.
Becky Lynch (c) vs Lyra Valkyria
Allen: Both women have been putting in crazy good matches, so I’m excited to see how this one will play out. Becky Lynch has certainly brought Lyra Valkyria to another level. With all the stipulations in place, I think it’ll be pretty obvious that Lyra Valkyria will be reclaiming the Intercontinental championship.
Greg: With the new stipulations in place, this will mean bird lady will leave Summerslam a champion.
BigFreaky: Boy, almost every match on Night 2 is some sort of “no rules” match. This is another one of them. Are we watching AEW? Anyways. It would be nice of The Man to do the honors. Valkyria needs to prove herself with a win.
Justin: The stipulation makes this interesting. But if Becky wins, she’ll always be the one that Lyra could never dethrone (even if she wins the belt from someone else). I don’t think they want that asterisk on her record. Although, I guess they could always use that for something down the line. That’s the beauty of wrestling right? But I think it’s Lyra’s time to go over.
Six-Pack Tables, Ladders, and Chairs for the WWE Tag Team Championship
Wyatt Sicks (c) vs Andrade & Rey Fénix vs #DIY vs Fraxiom vs Motor City Machine Guns vs The Street Profits
Allen: It’s been 25 years since the Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz, and Edge and Christian fought in the very first TLC match at SummerSlam. Now that the Smackdown tag division will finally get some PLE recognition, this might be a war as they try to go all out. I just hope they all make it out just fine. It certainly will be hard to figure out a favorite. I’m going to go with the Wyatt Sicks.
Greg: It’s nice to know that someone in the fed gives a flying fuck about tag team wrestling. Given the participants in this match, someone is going to do something stupid and almost die. And we will cheer for it. If given enough time this will be the show stealer of both nights and I don’t really have a horse to run with in this match. If forced to choose I’ll go with Fraxiom.
BigFreaky: Let’s go Motor City Machine Guns! Since WWE is working with TNA now, can we get an AJ Francis Cameo?? Also feel free to get rid of Gacy. I will pray to Santa Maria before the match for El Ídolo’s cojones.
Justin: This match is going to be insane. I typically trust Triple H when it comes to multi-man matches. With all the history and talent behind this, it should be an absolute banger. I would love for Fraxiom to win it, but is it too early? You know what, I’ll pick Fraxiom anyway.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Dominik Mysterio (c) vs AJ Styles
Allen: Praise Jeebus, he’s cleared to fight! This will be really interesting how the booking will go after this match. I kind of want to see Dominik Mysterio go all belt collector and win the Megachampionship at Triplemania. But then again, it would be cool to see AJ Styles show up at TNA Bound for Glory with the IC title. This could be more of a normal Judgement Day interference match. I see Dominik Mysterio winning with some help.
Greg: AJ Styles is gonna be like Ned Flanders in the Simpson Wrestling game. The power of God will protect him from being harmed by the sinning criminal who is Dirty Dom. Unfortunately the power of the good book and prayer will not lead him to becoming IC champ. Judgement Day shenanigans will make sure of that.
BigFreaky: Time for Dom to put in some work. This match should be real fun for the crowd. Really I’m not sure which way to go with this one. I plead the 5th.
Justin: Been loving this feud. The dynamic between the two is so fun to watch. And the IC belt feels important. To me, involving AJ Styles in anything legitimizes it. I think Judgement day will definitely interfere like everyone else here has mentioned, but…somehow…someway…I also think AJ will walk away with that belt.
Triple Threat Match for Women’s World Championship
Naomi (c) vs Rhea Ripley vs Iyo Sky
Allen: The triple threat women’s match was the best match from Wrestlemania. Now they sub in Naomi as the current champ. I love Naomi’s current unhinged run, she is just so entertaining now. Hopefully her personality shines during the match as well. We know how great Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky have been, I see more of the same now that we mix in Naomi. I don’t see Rhea Ripley winning until Crown Jewel Perth. They will probably run Naomi vs Iyo Sky for Clash In Paris. Naomi will retain her title. I see this being the best match out of all the main championship matches.
Greg: Cray Cray Naomi retains in what should be the second best match of Summerslam.
BigFreaky: This could be a total slobberknocker! Lots of valid points made by Allen, that I can’t even deny. Naomi is on a run!
Justin: So happy for Naomi and what she’s been able to do. I don’t see Iyo Sky winning it back, and I can’t see Rhea walking away with the belt right now either. This is going to be a great match and a great win to further cement Naomi’s reign.
Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs Cody Rhodes
Allen: Street fight? No way this won’t be overbooked. This can’t be any worse than their Wrestlemania match, can it? I feel this is more of a “How long will they keep Cena the champ?” story then “When will Cody be champ again?” story. John Cena has obviously lost a few steps, that’s why they keep window dressing his matches. I don’t really think he needs the title on the rest of his run anymore. I hope for a better finish than Wrestlemania. I will go with Cody Rhodes winning the championship.
Greg: The ghost of Travis Scott will somehow interfere in this match. =p But in all seriousness, this will hopefully be the time Cody goes full Homelander heel and Cena goes back to being the white meat babyface we all want him to be as he nears the end of his farewell tour. Cody Raheem Rhodes wins by any means necessary.
BigFreaky: Bully Ray offered up some good fantasy booking on their radio show. Let’s see if it comes to fruition. It’s melanin for the win!!! Brrrrrrrreeern Cody Rhodes!!
Justin: The thing that I’m most intrigued about regarding this match happened off TV. In an interview, Cody acknowledged the general sentiment behind the Wrestlemania main event, and basically said for those who felt a certain way about it, Summerslam should resolve that. What could that mean and what might they do? Thank goodness Travis won’t be a part of this (unless they worked the dirt sheets). The only bad part about that is Travis will never get that receipt that Cody owes him. Cody’s been leaning heavier into ‘the ends justify the means’ and Cena can’t escape the crowd’s appreciation despite his actions. The double turn fantasy booking would be great here. I’m ready for Homelander’s arrival.
